From: Cardholder Information [mailto:information@cuets.ca] Dear CUETS MasterCard customer, As a result of an asset purchase by TD Bank Group which is now complete, CUETS Financial—a division of MBNA Canada Bank and the issuer of your credit union MasterCard credit card—is now a division of The Toronto-Dominion Bank. Please take a moment and update your account information for your credit union MasterCard credit card (531*************) issued by CUETS Financial to prevent data loss and errors within our systems by the upcoming data center change. You can access your account information form attached to this email. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. For the most part, it is business as usual and you will not notice any change to your credit card account. You will still see your credit union’s name on your MasterCard credit card statement and you can continue to manage your credit card account just as you do today.

A message from the Town of Luseland
On December 8, 2011, the Town of Luseland hosted a community meeting to bring to the community’s attention the need for trained ambulance personnel. The Town would like to thank the public for attending and also thank the ambulance personnel and district staff for attending. There was a lot of good communication and it was brought to our attention that training sessions will be held early in the new year. It is critical to the continuance of this service in our community for people to step up, take the training and commit the time necessary to maintain this vital service. If you can do this, please contact Emily Eurich at 372-4380 (office) or 372-4607 (home). Anyone trying to catch the January training should have their application in by December 29th.

Today is an exciting day for Smartphone users!!
LCU is pleased to inform you that we have launched a smartphone friendly version of MemberDirect internet banking. This new site will allow you to access your account right from your smartphone with a graphic interface designed for the smaller screen. You now have the increased ability of verifying account balances and transactions, transferring funds, making bill payments and saving your account number for quick access. This functionality comes with the same level of security found in the full version of MemberDirect. There are no programs to download, simply point your mobile browser to the mobile link and you are set. Apple users can make a bookmark to their homepage and an icon will be placed there. Other smartphone users can create a bookmark in their internet browser for easy access. Some older versions of the Blackberry operating systems require you to switch your browser to the internet browser from BB browser.

Once you have signed up for E-Statements and entered our draw for $250, it would be nice to know where to find these electronic statements. It is a simple three step process that is outlined here. In the link there are pictures that illustrate where to find your E-Statements and each picture is a clickable link to a larger version for ease of reading. Thanks for taking part in this green initiative and good luck in the draw!
What to expect.
In late October and early November every member will be receiving a new chip enabled Membercard in the mail to replace their old magnetic stripe card. You will first receive an envelope containing your new PIN with the card following several days later in a seperate envelope. If you would like to change the PIN please stop by our office or any other Credit Union with the PIN envelope provided to you and a staff member would be happy to help you. In the near future all Saskatchewan Credit Union ATM machines will have the ability to perform PIN changes.
How do they work?
The cards have an encrypted microchip embedded on to them that will make it almost impossible for an unauthorized person to access your personal information. This chip represents the next step in our continued strategy to reduce the amount of funds lost to fraudsters and to protect you, the member.

What do I need to do?
The new cards will come automatically to every member of Luseland Credit Union so there is nothing for you to do in that respect. When you are at a merchant making a purchase you will have to insert the card , chip first, into the end of the payment terminal. It is important to follow the prompts on the screen as the card must remain in the terminal until the transaction is completed. You will then have to confirm the transaction and enter your PIN to authroize the transaction. Once prompted, you can remove your card and continue on with the rest of your day. This process should not take much longer than the old magnetic stripe method. It is important that you do read the prompts on the screen of the payment terminal and insert the chip if the machine is chip compliant. There are safe guards built into the card that take effect if the chip is not used at a chip enabled terminal.

Why is there still a magnetic stripe?
There are two reasons why your new chip card will still have a magnetic stripe. The first being the fact that not all merchants will be chip compliant and are not required to become compliant until December 21, 2015. The other reason is that some countries have not yet adopted chip technology. It is important that you have access to your account wherever you may go and to accomplish this, the magnetic stripe must remain for now.
